HDPE, an acronym for High density polyethylene. It is prepared from the monomer Ethylene. It is originally manufactured from petroleum. It has a greater strength-to-mass ratio.

It provides considerable support in designing light-weight structures and design models. As it is recyclable, unused components can be 3D printed using HDPE. It has greater resistance to most solvents which makes it go-to-plastic type for any chemical. It is easily soluble in a chemical called limonene.
Applications
As HDPE is widely available, it carries its usage inclusively. It is a great material to fabricate large functional components that includes container and packaging. Because of its high density and tensile strength, it is used to produce plastic liquid containers, plastic bottles, milk jugs, plastic bags, consumer goods, children’s toys etc. Recycled HDPE is utilized to make plumbing pipes, buckets, plastic flower pots, plastic lumber, recycle bins.
With its dense nature and rigidity, HDPE expands its scope in manufacturing container packaging of our daily life appliances to recycling the same unused material in designing useful products.
